Cardiac exam: How to interpret what you hear

Auscultation is the cornerstone of a cardiac physical exam and a skill that we can continue to improve throughout our career. This talk will focus on techniques and tricks of auscultation with an emphasis on clinical deductions that might be made based upon the results.

Dr. Rausch graduated from the University of Florida and received his DVM from the University of Wisconsin. He completed a one year Internship in Medicine and Surgery at The Animal Medical Center in NYC, and went on to a residency program in Small Animal Cardiology at North Carolina State University. He currently works in a referral practice in Portland, Oregon and remains active in clinical research.  He has a passion for teaching and lectures extensively, and also travels to Washington State University now and then to serve as a locum Clinical Instructor in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  In his spare time he enjoys all manner of cycling, the bounties of the Pacific Northwest, cooking, eating, and playing in a Portland bluegrass band.
