Cytology for the practitioner

Cytology is a powerful diagnostic tool in veterinary small animal patients. Using case examples, gain a strong understanding of the process and how to use it in practice. Identify the many ways to procure samples and the different diagnoses cytology can provide—from neoplasia to infectious diseases. Come away understanding the importance of excellent sample procurement and slide preparation, and how to screen and evaluate slides quickly for best efficiency and results. Learn how to use an easy-to-apply diagnostic flowchart to evaluate slides in your practice.

Participants can expect to learn about:

  • Methods for obtaining high-quality cytology samples, from bone aspiration to lymph node sampling
  • How using cytology in an initial process can limit differentials and help you make future work-up decisions
  • Using cytology on potential metastatic sites to improve staging of cancer patients
