Dr. Renee Schmid, DABVT, DABT, is a senior veterinary toxicologist and veterinarian supervisor for Pet Poison Helpline/SafetyCall International. Since 2013 she has led a national team of veterinarians, managing over 20,000 animal poisoning cases, and presenting about toxins and leadership at conferences across the country. She has published scientific book chapters on the topics of thyroid supplements, diuretic drug intoxication, xylitol intoxication, general poisoning therapy, strychnine toxicosis, Compound 1080 toxicosis, anticoagulant rodenticide toxicity, cholecalciferol rodenticide toxicity, toxicities from human cardiovascular drugs, and poisonous house and ornamental plants. She also has published peer-reviewed scientific articles on xylitol and mirabegron poisoning in dogs, and anesthesia induction in cats. She earned her DVM from Kansas State University.
