Anesthesia: Reducing morbidity and mortality

Learn how to improve anesthesia-related safety in clinical practice. Explore the scientific literature regarding anesthesia-related mortality and morbidity to understand specific factors that both increase and decrease these rates. This course originally was presented at AVMA Virtual Convention 2020 under the title “How to reduce anesthesia-related morbidity and mortality”.

Dr. Anderson da Cunha received his DVM from the Universidade Federal do Paraná- Brazil. In 2002, he moved to the United States, where he completed an internship in veterinary anesthesia and pain management at Louisiana State University (LSU) and residency at North Carolina State University. From 2006 to 2019 he was a professor and service chief of the anesthesia and analgesia service at LSU’s Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. He currently is a professor of anesthesiology at Midwestern University.
